Emily Duke earned her MFA from The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and an undergraduate degree in Crafts from the College for Creative Studies (Detroit). Duke has participated in many artist residencies including Arts/Industry residency at the John Micheal Kohler Arts Center, Ox-Bow School of Art and Red Star Studios. She was named an Emerging Artist of 2013 by Ceramics Monthly Magazine for her ceramic sculptures.

Duke's studio practice is multi-faceted and includes an in depth dedication to making ceramic sculpture, luxury handmade lighting and functional pots for the home

Symmetry, repetition and balance continue to be at the forefront of her design sensibilities.  Duke utilizes a combination of geometric abstraction paired with minimal color and mindful material choices to assemble her work.
