A boutique lighting studio creating illuminated sculptures for thoughtful interiors.

At Emily Duke Studio we make lighting that is expertly crafted using high-quality materials. Our designs are clay forward, highlighting the beauty of ceramics. Each table lamp is uniquely individual — adding comfort, depth, and everlasting warmth to your space. We artfully design and assemble table lamps and lighting pieces by hand that enhance the everyday experiences in your home.

Quality Materials

Our approach to the lamp is immersive using clay as the root of the process, finishing with hand created shades and brass hardware.

Distinct Design

Using ceramic finishing techniques such as glaze, smoke-firing, and bare ceramic to bring unique texture and depth to our lamps.

Everlasting Warmth

We create intriguing, thoughtfully designed illuminated works of art for the home.

As a ceramist, Emily Duke strives to share the beauty of handcrafted lighting. She finds that lighting is essential in creating atmosphere and warmth in a home, thus she approaches each fixture she builds as a lighted sculpture that will add interest and depth to interior spaces.

Earning her MFA from The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and an undergraduate degree in Crafts from the College for Creative Studies (Detroit), Emily has been working in the ceramics field for over 15 years. She’s participated in many artist residencies including Arts/Industry residency at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Ox-Bow School of Art, and Red Star Studios.

About Emily

Emily’s career has been dedicated to making objects. She started making lamps out of curiosity — exploring raw material combinations, ceramic form, and balanced design to understand how these fundamental elements come together to enhance a space with light. Through her years of researching ceramic techniques and working with components of lighting Emily has refined her craft. She finds true meaning and pride working with her hands and their ability to manipulate, sand, cut, and finesse materials into pieces of art living in one’s home.

The lighting designed and built at Emily Duke Studio combines the beauty of ceramic with the seamless function of everyday lighting.
